John Ring is a research scientist at Sociotechnical Signals. His areas of expertise are computer security (including human-driven security vulnerabilities), low-level system design, and anomaly detection in computer networking data. He has authored research on numerous topics, including programming language theory and financial market microstructure.

In the past, John worked at the LORD Corporation. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Vermont, where he also obtained the MS and BS degrees in computer science.
